What an Editorial Rating Should Actually Mean

A number with no published criteria is decoration. What a defensible scoring method looks like.

Scores out of five or ten are everywhere in casino coverage, and most of them are unexplained. A rating is only useful if you can see what it measures and reproduce it.

A defensible method states its criteria and weights up front: licence quality and jurisdiction, clarity and fairness of terms, withdrawal times observed in testing, the range and transparency of safer gambling tools, complaint handling, and payment options.

It also states what the rating does not cover. No publisher can measure a private operator's solvency, and nobody can predict how a specific withdrawal will be handled.

Finally, it discloses commercial relationships. If a listing is paid or affiliate-linked, that has to be visible next to the score rather than in a footer nobody reads.
