Account Closure, Suspension and Restriction: The Differences

Three different states with different consequences for your balance.

Operators use several account states and the terminology matters when you are trying to get funds out.

Closure at your request should return any withdrawable balance and end the relationship. Self-exclusion closure additionally blocks re-registration for the chosen period and must return the balance.

Suspension is temporary and usually pending verification or an investigation. The balance is held rather than forfeited, and the operator should tell you what is required to lift it.

Restriction limits specific functions — bonuses withdrawn, stake caps applied, promotions withheld — while allowing normal play. Operators may apply it commercially and are generally not obliged to explain it.

In every case, request the status and the reason in writing. Written responses are what an ADR body can act on.
