Signs That Gambling Has Stopped Being Entertainment
Recognised indicators, and the free confidential support available.
Gambling-related harm exists on a spectrum, and the widely recognised indicators are behavioural rather than financial.
They include gambling with money set aside for something else, chasing losses with larger stakes, hiding the extent of play from people close to you, being preoccupied with the next session, gambling to change how you feel rather than for entertainment, and repeatedly failing to stop when you intended to.
Financial signs follow: borrowing to gamble, cancelling withdrawals to keep playing, and using multiple accounts to bypass limits you set.
Free confidential support exists. In Great Britain, BeGambleAware.org and the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133, plus GamCare and Gamblers Anonymous. Equivalent services operate in most jurisdictions. Reaching out early is easier than reaching out late.

Gambling involves risk and there is no strategy that guarantees a win. Only stake what you can afford to lose. Support is available at BeGambleAware.org and GamCare.
