Tracking Sessions: The Simplest Control That Works
Recorded numbers beat remembered ones, and the gap between them is usually large.
Recall of gambling outcomes is systematically biased. Wins are memorable and specific; losses blur into a general sense of being roughly even.
A simple record fixes this: date, site, time started and stopped, deposited amount, withdrawn amount. Nothing else is needed. Net position per month is the only figure that matters, and it is the one almost nobody knows accurately.
Most licensed operators also provide an account history and an annual statement of deposits and withdrawals. Downloading it once is often more informative than any budgeting intention.
If the recorded number is uncomfortable to look at, that is itself the useful signal, and deposit limits or a time-out are the appropriate next step.

Gambling involves risk and there is no strategy that guarantees a win. Only stake what you can afford to lose. Support is available at BeGambleAware.org and GamCare.
