In-Play Betting: Latency, Suspensions and Pricing
Live markets run on delayed data and automated suspension logic.
In-play markets reprice continuously as an event unfolds, driven by data feeds from official or scouted sources.
Two mechanics define the experience. Latency: the feed reaching the book is typically faster than the video reaching you, so you are betting on information the book already has. Suspension: markets freeze automatically when a significant event is detected, which is why bets are rejected at exactly the moment you most want them.
Bet delay is a related control — a short acceptance delay during which the price may change or the bet may be rejected if the market moves.
None of this is unusual or hidden, but it does mean that reacting to a live broadcast is structurally disadvantaged. The book is not reacting to your screen.
