House Edge Across Common Casino Games
Where the mathematical margin sits in blackjack, roulette, baccarat and slots.
Every casino game carries a built-in margin. Comparing them on the same basis is straightforward.
European roulette has a single zero, giving a house edge of about 2.7% on standard bets. American roulette adds a double zero and roughly doubles that to about 5.26%, which is why table selection matters more than bet selection.
Baccarat's banker bet carries around a 1.06% edge after commission, player around 1.24%, and the tie bet far more. Blackjack under favourable rules and correct basic strategy can sit under 1%, but rule variations such as 6:5 blackjack payouts increase it substantially.
Slots vary by title, commonly between 2% and 10% expressed as 100% minus RTP. Across all of them, the edge applies to every bet placed, so total turnover, not net deposit, drives expected loss.
