Account Security Basics for Gambling Accounts

These accounts hold money and identity documents, and are targeted accordingly.

Gambling accounts are attractive targets because they combine a cash balance with full identity documentation.

The baseline: a unique password stored in a password manager, two-factor authentication enabled wherever the operator supports it, and withdrawal to the deposit method only, which limits what an attacker can do even with access.

Watch for the common attack patterns: emails claiming a bonus requires immediate login, fake support accounts on social media offering to resolve a withdrawal, and lookalike domains in search advertising.

Operators will never ask for your password. If an account is compromised, contact support in writing immediately, request a freeze, and change the password on the email account first — that is usually the actual point of entry.

Gambling involves risk and there is no strategy that guarantees a win. Only stake what you can afford to lose. Support is available at BeGambleAware.org and GamCare.
